LAVO
LAVO is an Israeli nonprofit dedicated to promoting positive sexuality education from an early age. We believe that sexuality education does not begin in adolescence, nor is it limited to conversations about sex, risk prevention, or “the talk.” It begins in childhood, through conversations about the body, emotions, privacy, boundaries, desires, and relationships, and develops gradually as children grow.
We believe that meaningful and lasting change happens through the significant adults who guide children and adolescents throughout their lives. That is why we train and support educators, parents, and communities, providing them with professional knowledge, a shared language, and practical tools to make conversations about sexuality a natural and ongoing part of education and everyday life.
LAVO’s work takes place in schools, local authorities, and communities across Israel. It includes training and support for educational teams, working with parents, community-based programs, and annual professional training for facilitators in the field. The content is tailored to each age and developmental stage, covering topics such as the body and body image, boundaries and desires, privacy, consent, relationships, gender, pornography, sexual development, and emotional communication.
Our goal is not simply to provide knowledge, but to create a shift in educational culture: moving from sexuality education based primarily on fear, risks, and prohibitions to an approach that encourages curiosity, choice, self-awareness, respect for others, communication, and healthy relationships. This allows children and adolescents to grow up in an environment where there are adults they can talk to, ask questions, and turn to for support, while gradually developing the ability to understand themselves, set and respect boundaries, make decisions, and build relationships based on awareness, respect, and choice.
